Meet the Sponsorship Intelligence team.
Andy Kowalczyk, Managing DirectorAndy paved his career in sponsorship research initially through roles with global research agency, BMRB where he specialised in media and consumer research as well as a stint at Ipsos-RSL where he managed RAJAR, the official research supplier to the UK’s commercial and non-commercial Radio industry. He transferred this extensive media expertise to sponsorship media research in 2000 when he joined SiS (now TNSSport). He headed the client service department there, responsible for servicing UEFA Champions League/TEAM Marketing and the FAPL/Barclays accounts to name just a few.
Andy also ran the TNSSport Singapore office for a year, while overseeing the establishment of TNSSport China.
More recently at SI, Andy was at the forefront of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ project delivering consumer, media and compliance analysis to both FIFA and Infront. He also oversees the research programmes for both the IOC and UEFA. Chris Jones, Deputy Managing DirectorChris spent nearly a decade working for Sponsorship Intelligence between 1995 and 2004, joining the company soon after graduating in Economics from University College London. Having spent the last three years as an Associate Director at leading market research company Ipsos MORI, he recently returned to Sponsorship Intelligence to take up the post of Deputy Managing Director.
He is equally at home with media and consumer research and undertook these disciplines in equal weight during his first stint at the company. He is currently tasked with building on the company’s already-strong consumer research function, looking at innovative ways of analysing and reporting data. He is currently running a 9-market study on behalf of TEAM and UEFA for their Champions League and UEFA Cup competitions. Nick Lawrie, DirectorNick brings experience from a number of roles within the sponsorship industry, including spells in Australia and the USA. He has been involved in selling global sponsorships, as well as evaluating the success of rights holders and brands within sport and the arts.
Since leaving sponsorship agency Karen Earl Sponsorship in June 2004, he is able to contribute to both the research and consulting sides of the business. His past and current clients include the BT Global Challenge, Cricket World Cup, Australasian Golf Tour and EventsCorp as well as Unisys, PUMA, Toyota, Samsung and Chivas.
Carolyn Honey, Account DirectorCarolyn graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class Honours Degree in PE, Sports Science & Mathematics. Having been with SI since 2001, Carolyn has worked on a variety of media and consumer research projects, mainly involving FIFA football, the Olympic Games and IAAF athletics.
More recently Carolyn has focused on the consumer side of SI’s business. Over the last three years, she has played a key role in the global consumer research studies for the IOC and last year managed the IAAF’s brand strategy and positioning research. For FIFA Carolyn was fully involved in the delivery of the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup™ international studies, from designing questionnaires through to the presentation of results. Anthony Goddard, Account DirectorAnthony Goddard, an account manager with over 8 years experience in the Sponsorship Research industry joined S.I. at the start of February 2006.
Ant has vast experience of the managing of some of Formula One’s largest sponsorship media research accounts which include, British American Tobacco and Vodafone’s sponsorship of Ferrari (via Carat). In addition, he has produced television, press and market research reports for various sports rights holders (WRC, WTCC & WSB), teams (Williams F1 & Redbull Racing) and sponsors (RBS, Foster’s, Orange and Rizla). Outside of the motorsport arena he has also conducted studies on international rugby, equestrian, golf and sailing events. So, he understands the importance of insightful, accurate and the timely provision of global television ratings reports and analysis.
Steve Galliford, Account ManagerA graduate in Business Management, Steve initially joined SI as a media-monitoring assistant in March 2002. His role though has quickly evolved to that of account management whereby he combines brand exposure tracking, with the production of bespoke media evaluation studies for such clients as Safeway, Skyville and SPAR. Combining an immense sporting interest with two years experience in project administration, Steve has proved a valuable addition to the team Matt Finch, Account ManagerMatt Finch, an account manager, with over 6 years experience in the Sponsorship Research industry joined S.I. in March 2006.
Matt has vast experience of the day-to-day running of some of football’s largest sponsorship media research accounts which includes, T.E.A.M./UEFA, the FAPL, Barclaycard/Barclays, Manchester United and Vodafone’s sponsorship of Manchester United (via Carat). So he understands the importance of insightful, accurate and the timely provision of global television ratings reports and analysis.
Sasha Abraham, Consumer Research ExecutiveSasha joined the S.I. team in May 2008 after having worked at Tesco Stores Ltd. While at Tesco, she worked in the Quality Team (non-food) which helped her gain valuable experience in market research, along with an improved understanding of the retail industry. Born and brought up in India, Sasha played tennis at the international level which has taken her to several countries around the world. She moved to London after graduating from Pennsylvania State University in the US in May 2007 with a degree in Marketing.
An avid sports fan, Sasha is very keen to be a part of an exciting company like S.I.. Christopher Hurst, Account ExecutiveChris graduated from the University of Northumbria in July 2007 with a BSc Hons in Geography and Sport Studies. Chris joined S.I. in October 2007 and has already been introduced to many aspects of the business, including brand exposure tracking and audience analysis. He is currently working on client-specific projects for SPAR International, Witan and IAAF, as well as broadening his knowledge by providing more generic support to members of the S.I. team.
Chris is excited to join S.I.’s expanding team and to develop his research skills within the sponsorship industry.
Sara Whitaker, Account ExecutiveSara is a graduate of Northwestern University in the United States, where she studied communications and political science. Sara joined the SI staff in September 2007 from sister agency Relay Worldwide in Chicago. She is excited by the prospect of strengthening the relationship between Relay, a live experiences activation agency, and SI over the coming year. She brings experience in consumer research, business development, and strategy. Mirna Bratoz, Junior Account ExecutiveMirna graduated from Cultural studies in September 2007 in Slovenia, where her focus comprised of analysing international popular culture events. She came to London to develop her research skills and joined Sponsorship Intelligence in March 2008. As a Junior Account Executive, she is currently learning the media side of the business by researching audiences and offering general support to the T.E.A.M. Marketing AG/UEFA Properties accounts. As an enthusiastic skier she is excited to learn more about sports sponsorship research. Allistair Nicholls, Junior Account ExecutiveAlistair graduated from the University of the West of England in July 2006 with a Ba Hons in English and Drama. Having worked as a ski instructor and travelled extensively in 2007, Alistair joined the S.I. team in May 2008. As a Junior Account Executive, he will be focusing on the media side of SI’s business, working on Euro 2008, various FIFA events, the UEFA Cup and Toyota F1. Alistair is keen to develop his research and analytical skills and forge a strong career at S.I.
